When The Courts Get Crowded
Pickleball at HFCC is getting more popular. As a result we can get somewhat crowded at times and trying to organize play can be challenging. Part of the problem (Jay!) has been a clear method for doing this. We now have a policy which we all hope you will take the time to understand and abide by the "system." It's designed to keep play moving and mix up the players so we all get to play with different people. In a recreational situation that's the idea.
So, here we go with our new paddle rotation policy. As always, if you have any questions use the form in this site to send us your questions and we will answer you as quickly as possible.

Paddle/Player Rotation System
Follow this system to know where you should place your paddle after you finish your game.
We will have two methods:
Two-Up⬆︎⬆︎ Two-Down⬇︎⬇︎ for when there are 7 or fewer players waiting to play.
Four-Up⬆︎⬆︎⬆︎⬆︎ Four-Down⬇︎⬇︎⬇︎⬇︎ for when there are 8 or more players waiting to play.

Two-Up⬆︎⬆︎ Two-Down⬇︎⬇︎
When there are 7 or fewer players waiting to play.
When there are 19 players attending, there will be 12 players on the court (3 courts/4 players) and 7 waiting.
The 7 players have their paddles lined up as shown below. The next players to player are the paddles on the left (RED check marks). So new players arriving will place their paddles to the right of paddles already there.
When the game is complete, the winners will remain on the court and separate (unless they have played two consecutive games). The losers of the game come off the court they will place their paddles on the right side of the pile (GREEN check marks).
As soon as more than 7 players are waiting to play, we go to the 4UP/4DOWN method.

Four-Up⬆︎⬆︎⬆︎⬆︎ Four-Down⬇︎⬇︎⬇︎⬇︎
When there are 8 or more players waiting to play.
When a game is complete, all four players leave the court and return to the bench. Four new players from the bench will form a new game. Here is the scenario:
- There are three courts available for play. There are 26 people who want to play. Twelve people are on the court and 14 people are waiting on the bench to play.
- The 14 people waiting to play have their paddles lined up as shown below (8 on the left and 6 on the right). As new people arrive, they should place their paddles on the right side of whichever pile has the lesser number of paddles.
- When a game is complete, all players should leave the court and return to the bench. The winners will place their paddles on the right side of the winners pile as indicated by the green check marks. The losers will place their paddles on the right side of the losers pile as indicated by the blue check marks. The people whose paddles are on the side that the handle of the center marker paddle is pointing should join the new game (in this scenario, on the winner side, as indicated by the red check marks).
- The "NEXT" tag should be moved from one paddle holder to the other.
- When there are fewer than 8 players waiting to play, we will go back to the Two-Up⇈Two-Down⇊ method.
